Department of Management FEM IPB success implementing International Shortcourse MISSME “Management of Indonesian Small Scale and Medium Enterprises”
Micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) is one of the significant contribution in the improvement of economy and society of Indonesia. SMEC is also able to produce over a hundred million work in Southeast Asia. In 1998, when the economic crisis happened, SMEC was the one who managed to survive in the economy of the country.

Department of Management Faculty of Economics and management (FEM) IPB carried out a special program aimed at improving the knowledge, skills and competency management of SMES based on farm products through International Shortcourse Management of Indonesian Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MISSME). The programme was carried out from 7th -17th August, 2017 and was attended by 16 participants from several countries in Southeast Asia, i.e. 1 person from Indonesia, 9 people from Malaysia, 5 persons from Thailand and 1 person from Vietnam.

International Shortcourse MISSME were sponsored by the Government of the city of Bogor, NIVEA, Wardah and PT Sierad Produce this, beginning with dinner together in Bogor Town Hall and was attended by Mr. Bima Arya Sugiarto as Mayor of Bogor, Prof. Dr.Ir. Yusman Syaukat, M.Ec as Dean FEM IPB Mukhamad, Dr. Najib, the MM as the head of Department of Management FEM IPB, M. Syaefudin Andrianto, STP, M.Si as the Chairman of the event, the organizers, lecturers and participants MISSME.


For the activities of International Shortcourse MISSME, participants presented by the material relating to the four pillars of management (marketing management, human resource management, financial management and management of production and operation) by ten speakers. Speakers are experts in their fields, such as Prof. Noor Azman Bin Ali (Malaysia UPM), Dr. Ma’mun Sarma, M.S. (IPB), Allya Paramita Koesoema, PhD (UNSW Australia), Prof. Purwiyanto Hariyadi (IPB), Prof. Dr. Herman Wailbel (University of Hannover Germany), Dr. Sabine Liebenehm (University of Hannover Germany), Prof. Dr.Ir. Moses Hubeis, MS, Dipl., Ing, DEA (IPB), Dr. IR. Abdul Basith, MS (IPB), Dr. IR. Asnath Maria Fuah (IPB), and Ir. Yunita Resmisari (Bank Indonesia). They also make a visit to several SMEs in Bogor regency, West Java, such as IPB SEAFAST, PT SWEN innovation, University Farm, Creative Industry SIERAD and Noodle Waru. These activities also generate good feedback from participants short course based on the results of the evaluation as well as the participants are hoping that this event there will be a follow-up to advanced short course. This event also ends with the closing activities through a dinner together at the Hotel Pangrango 2 was attended by the Chairman of the Department of management of the IPB, the Faculty and staff of the IPB, the organizers and all participants MISSME.
