Day 3 – Lecturing Session + Visiting LPPOM MUI and BLST

The third official day started at 08.30 opened by Andita Sayekti, S.TP, M.Sc as the moderator. The first session is a lecturing session presented by Dr. Nancy Dewi Yuliana from Food and Science Technology Department IPB University with the title “Tracing and Tracking Halal Product by Using Digital Technology”. Firstly, she described the background of halal food and why halal is an important issue. She explained that food is a very complex matrix because it contains a lot of ingredients, enzymes, substances and derivative products which are hard to tell halal or haram. All the process of making the product needed to be considered, such as how the animals are slaughtered in a halal way, how to process a non-halal derivative product into halal to use, how the factory separates the production of the non-halal product, and many more. At last, she shared the proposed idea to make a halal-haram digitalization system. Because the topic is new to most of the participants, they were eager to ask a lot of questions.


The participants enjoyed the coffee break at 10.00. The second session continued at 10.20 with lecturing session presented by Astri Purnamasari as the Vice President of Corporate Services TaniGroup. She started her lecture with the condition of Indonesia’s current agricultural sector, and Tanihub comes to solve the problem. Tanihub is part of TaniGroup which focuses on improving agricultural sectors in Indonesia with digitalization. Tanihub is a startup with a purpose to help farmers produce the best quality product, market and sell the product, also provide financial support for the farmers. TaniGroup is going to launch a new company called TaniSupply which focuses on the supply chain of agricultural products.

She illustrated how the company works and also shared her stories during the journey of TaniGroup up until now. The class was held interactively as the participants were excited to voice out their opinion.
