PRESS RELEASE 1ST DAY OF SAMI SUMMER COURSE
The first day of Sustainable Agrifood Management in Indonesia (SAMI) Summer Course 2018 (06/08) was run smoothly and was attended by 19 participants from various countries. The activities started in the Senate Room with the opening speech from Prof. Dr. Ir. Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, M. Sc.F. as Vice Chancellor for Collaboration and Information System followed by the overview of SAMI by the program chairman, Dr. Eko Ruddy Cahyani. After that two representatives, namely Ms. Non-Htaw Mon from Myanmar and Mr. Shanmugasundaram from India was invited to the stage for s symbolic inauguration.
After the inauguration, participants moved to the Faculty of Economics and Management building to carry out the first session of presentation from each participant on food agricultural from their country. Followed by the lecture about Challenges and Opportunities in The Future of Agrifood sector by Prof. Dr. Hermann Waibel from Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. After taking a break, the participants continued the second session of the presentation and then carried out sharing presentations on the results of the thesis research on Sabisa Farm by three Management students of IPB batch 2014.
In the afternoon participants spend their time studying outdoors at Sabisa Farm. While touring around Sabisa Farm, participants got knowledge about Sabisa Farm and agriculture from upstream to downstream which was delivered directly by its committees, who are also students and alumni of IPB. Besides, they also got a chance to try some products of Sabisa Farm like dragon fruit pudding and fresh pineapple drink.
The first day was ended at Foresthree with dinner as well as a special entrepreneurial sharing story from one alumni of Management IPB, Mr. Haidhar Wurjanto, who is the CEO of SIMHA GROUP. The participants got inspired by his story to be the next entrepreneurs in Agrifood sector.
